Hiking Poles
Hiking poles are not necessary for all hikers, but they are definitely recommended for multi-day trips as they help spread the weight of a heavy backpack. They are also very helpful to improve your balance in dicey situations, for example when crossing small creeks or on steep terrain. For our first backpacking adventure on our trip across the country, we chose Pukaskwa National Park’s Coastal Trail, which is known to be one of Canada’s toughest hikes in a very remote location
We also quickly appreciated how light the aluminium poles are and how compact they become thanks to their three-section foldable shaft. This makes it simple to attach them to your backpack for the sections of the trail where using your hands might be best.
Overall, we thought the hiking pole is a good product at a fair price for people who do not abuse their gear. Throughout our coastal trail expedition, the poles have proven to be light, versatile, and well designed. We especially appreciated them after that night with record rainfall which completely flooded sections of the trail! They made the crossing of some creeks a little safer.
